My trip to Florida today has been postponed for two weeks as Hurricane Isaac has decided to visit Flordia the same day. Button down the hatches my Floridian friends and family. Charlie has taught us a lesson or two in preparation, not least spaghetti pots on heads (Ruth & Chris)............

An Olympic Joyride........
What an amazing journey we have encountered with an emotionally charged spectacular joyride of the London 2012 Olympics. This is where the GREAT in Great Britain comes from. Here we were at our absolute best with creativity, music, dedication, perseverance and CAN DO attitude. I am in awe of the athletes who allowed the crowd to become part of their event and carry them past the finish line.
We now are left feeling spent and bereft as we know we are unlikely to encouter this again in our lifetime. Magnify the emotion (by 100X) you felt when you read the last line in the last Harry Potter book knowing it was the end of a journey you didn't want to end.
For 17 days we have been encapsulted in an Olympic bubble which started with Bradley Wiggins, was accelerated to unimaginary heights with Jessica Ennis, Greg Hungerford and MO FARAH.....and thank you for the biggest smile MO, we will never forget it as long as we live.
The Closing Ceremony was magnificant as we recognised our greatest musical legends, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and The Who. We enjoyed The Muse, Beady Eye and The Kaiser Chiefs, we even sang along with The Spice Girls. Thank you for giving us a ringside seat to THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH.
When we look turnover the best Olympic Games in the future we will be proud to read Made in England, not Made in China.

A Very Special Birthday
What a beautiful birthday and what an abundance of blessings:
Waking up in the arms of my lovely husband
A perfectly sunny day without a cloud in the sky
Seeing an elderly gentleman jogging whistling the theme to the great escape
Meeting lady with three lovely collies on way to Kenwood AND on the way home
Having a new dog for an hour (an escapee lurcher waiting to be reclaimed by it's owner)
Seeing a field of faries blowing in the wind
Getting a phone call from my Tom wishing me Happy Birthday and telling me he is happy
A mass of Hydrangeas with heads the size of footballs from my Andy
A Champagne Tea at Browns
Facebook birthday wishes from all of my special friends
Birthday Skyping with Charlotte
Dinner on the floating Feng Shai in Camden
Hearing Mo had won the second gold medal
A special bouquet and bubbles from my girl
Back in the arms of my lovely husband.
This is the most perfect life I could be living.

New Forest Summer
What a glorious trip!!! We have just returned from the New Forest and although mushrooms were thin on the ground we explored numerous parts of the forest from Pipers Wait to Vinny Ridge, Pig Bush and Puttles Bridge. The weather was kind and Sophie has a blast running circles through the forest and jumping in to every stream she could find.
For me, the trip trip offered much nostalgia remembering childhood days where as a family we spent many days in the New Forest exploring areas such as Blackwater, Lyndhurst, Beaulieu and Ashurst. The lovely wild ponies are still in abundance grazing happily ignoring the tourists snapping photos after photos of them....and the donkeys were outrageously social in Nomansland where they literally had their heads in our car trying to get a snack from Andy.
The highlight was our stay at Kentford Farm which keeps race horses. We stayed in a small cottage within acres of private land surrounded by fields and lakes and race horses. Ironically, this was where we found the most mushrooms, including chanterelles which kept Andy happy.
The horses were stunning and I loved our early evening walks past the paddock where they would come over to say hello. On our last evening we sat by the lake at the edge of the garden, overlooking the paddocks drinking champagne and were treated to three horses having a playful race with each other running up and down the fields. It was a joy to watch. I think we will be booking to stay here again next year of not before.
